Jeffrey Freymann-Weyr has been working in radio since audio was cut on quarter-inch tape and scripts were written on manual typewriters. He started as a newscaster at a small station in New Hampshire, and now gets to work with all manner of gadgets and computers as Multimedia Producer for WDAV.

He studied music theory at the University of Michigan School of Music, and film scoring at Berklee in Boston, then spent several years working at recording studios in New York City that specialized in radio and television commercials.

Jeffrey spent more than a dozen years at NPR in Washington, first at Performance Today, and then eventually the Arts Desk of NPR News, producing and editing pieces—and occasionally reporting his own feature stories—for Morning Edition and All Things Considered.

He has written music for industrial and independent films, advertising and dance, as well as the signature music that NPR played for their special coverage at the beginning of the war in Afghanistan.

Jeffrey is married to the writer Garret Freymann-Weyr, who made the bigger sacrifice when she hyphenated. They live with their cat Dorcas, their dog Henry, and far too many books.
