WDAV: 30 Years of Serving the Carolinas with Classical Music

WDAV is celebrating 30 years of great classical music! And we're celebrating with a jam-packed season of special programming - on-air at 89.9 FM, online at wdav.org, and in person at numerous WDAV-sponsored community events intended to honor our past, connect with the present, and embrace the future. We invite you to join us for the following:

Chamber Music at St. Peter's Live Broadcast - Tuesday, 12/2/08, noon Listen to our live broadcast or join us in person at the First Tuesday Concert by Charlotte Chamber Music at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Uptown Charlotte.  The program features Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 and "Winter" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons.  Best of all, our emcee for the event is Fred Child, host of Performance Today.  This event is FREE and open to the public.

Fred Child at WDAV - Wednesday, 12/3, 9 a.m. - noon Fred Child caps off his visit to the area by sitting in on the air with WDAV hosts Mike McKay and Jennifer Foster. Special in-studio guests and performances are planned for a festive day of memorable programming.

Vox Live Broadcast - Friday, 12/5, noon Listen to our live broadcast or join us in person for VOX's holiday concert from St. John's Baptist Church in the Elizabeth neighborhood of Charlotte.  VOX, led by Artistic Director David Tang and Peppie Calvar, performs an eclectic mix of classical, jazz and gospel.  The program includes settings of the Ave Maria by Schubert, Franz Biebl, Francis Poulenc and Rachmaninoff.  Expect virtuosic arrangements of traditional carols, African-American spirituals and popular Christmas songs.  This event is FREE and open to the public.

30th Anniversary Holiday Open House - Friday, 12/5, 6 - 9 p.m. WDAV Studios The Samuel W. Newell Buildling 423 N. Main Street, Davidson, N.C. You're invited! WDAV joins neighboring businesses and community groups to support "Christmas in Davidson," the town's annual family-friendly holiday celebration.  Take in the sights and sounds along Main Street, then stroll down to the WDAV studios to enjoy lively seasonal music, warm beverages, tours, kids' activities and more.  This event is FREE.
