WDAV invites you on a fabulous musical tour of Vienna and Prague this spring! Join our announcer/producer Joe Brant as we explore these great music capitals and hear outstanding performances by world-renowned orchestras in both cities plus an all-Beethoven recital by pianist Andras Schiff.

Vienna and Prague have long been united by a passion for music. A succession of Habsburg rulers linked them politically, and provided a cultural milieu where the nurturing of musicians and of new music established important musical traditions that endure to this day. On our journey we will walk in the footsteps of Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven; visit palaces, theatres, and concert halls where music has played a significant role for centuries; and enjoy performances in both great public venues and intimate private spaces. We will also sample the fine food and wine for which Austria and Bohemia are noted, and feast our eyes on outstanding landscapes and city views.

Musikverein Vienna

We will visit houses in which Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert lived, and attend a private lieder recital in the latter. No visit to Vienna would be complete without a day along the Danube, and our excursion will take us up the river to the great Abbey of Melk, where Mozart once played the organ. In Prague we’ll be residing in the charming Malá Strana, or “Little Quarter,” once home to artisans who built the imposing Prague castle, as well as to nobility whose palaces and gardens nestle against the castle hill. A special concert is being arranged for us in the private rooms of the villa Bertramka, where Mozart lived while completing his score for Don Giovanni.

Expert private guides lead us through many major sites of both cities, deluxe four-star hotels, fine dining, delightful cafés, and plenty of free time all make this a cultural experience not to be missed! Register today!

Joe Brant 170

Joe has a great love for classical music – noting that Mozart is his favorite composer - and shares his enthusiasm with others daily during his WDAV airshift. In his spare time he also listens to other forms of music, including jazz and other selections not as easily classified. When music isn’t there, literature usually is or non-fiction or commentary on contemporary political issues. Henry James’ work is a favorite. Joe lives in Charlotte with his wife Xanie and their cat Camille.
