Young Chamber Musicians Competition Finalist


Help WDAV and OrthoCarolina choose the winners of the Young Chamber Musicians Competition.

Voting is easy! Watch the videos and vote for the best performance in each age category.

Your vote matters; results from the public vote count toward each ensemble’s overall score in the competition. Points earned from the public voting stage will be added to the scores from the live-adjudicated competition to determine the winners. To purchase tickets to the September 13 concert, call the Davidson College Ticket Office at 704-894-2135 or purchase tickets online.

Category 1, Age Group 18-20

Eurus Quartet

Musicians: Jonathan Kierspe, Celeste Terry, JP Davis, Michael Gore

The Eurus Saxophone Quartet was formed in August of 2013 at the University of South Carolina, where they performed in various concerts and recitals during their freshman year. They plan to continue to perform and compete together throughout their college career.

Chante Piano Trio

Trio No. 1 in B Major, Mvt I by Johannes Brahms
Musicians: Maria Parrini, Paul Aguilar, Stephen Hawkey

Although they have played together in youth orchestra and other chamber configurations for over five years, Chante began playing in a piano trio just 9 months ago. This past May, the trio competed in the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.

Varsity Brass Ensemble

The Varsity Brass Ensemble is an invitation-only outreach organization of the Unifour Brass Ensemble. This group is comprised of highly talented and motivated high school students from around the Unifour area in North Carolina. Tim Phillips, instructor of trumpet at Lenoir-Rhyne University and founder of the UBE, is the group's primary coach.

The Liquorice Stix

Musicians: Chandler Terry, Joshua Alley, Leyna Beery

The Liquorice Stix clarinet trio was organized for WDAV's YCMC by friends Chandler Terry, Joshua Alley, and Leyna Beery.  Beery, a rising senior, and Alley, a rising junior, attend the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem.  Terry is a rising junior in the James Iredell Advanced Placement Academy of Statesville High School.
