And we're celebrating with a jam-packed season of special programming
- on-air at 89.9 FM, online at wdav.org, and in person at numerous WDAV-sponsored
community events intended to honor our past, connect with the present,
and embrace the future. We invite you to join us for the following:
Fred Child at Davidson College - Monday, 12/1, 4 p.m.
WDAV 89.9 is proud to present a 30th Anniversary Conversation with Fred Child, host of the Peabody Award-winning program Performance Today, and announcer for the PBS Live from Lincoln Center telecasts. Fred will speak to the Davidson community on “The Death of...the Death of Classical Music.” From his vantage point as the host of America’s most-listened-to national classical music program, Fred offers provocative insights into the transformative changes occurring in the classical music business in America. The event will take place at Hance Auditorium in the Chambers building on the Davidson campus, and is free and open to the Davidson community and the general public. |
Charlotte Chamber Music Live

Listen to our live broadcast or join us in person at the First Tuesday Concert by Charlotte Chamber Music at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Uptown Charlotte. The program features Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 and "Winter" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Best of all, our emcee for the event is Fred Child, host of Performance Today. Fred Child caps off his visit to the area by sitting in on the air
with WDAV hosts Mike McKay and Jennifer Foster. Special in-studio
guests and performances are planned for a festive day of memorable programming. Child, renowned for his storied “performance chats” with classical artists, then welcomes Winston-Salem pianist Pamela Howland to WDAV’s Clark Performance Studio for a conversation and live performance of her own unique arrangements of holiday classics, Celtic songs and African-American spirituals. A VOX Christmas from St. John's - Friday, 12/5, noon
Listen to our live broadcast or join us in person for VOX's holiday concert from St. John's Baptist Church in the Elizabeth neighborhood of Charlotte. VOX, led by Artistic Director David Tang and Peppie Calvar, performs an eclectic mix of classical, jazz and gospel. The program includes settings of the Ave Maria by Schubert, Franz Biebl, Francis Poulenc and Rachmaninoff. Expect virtuosic arrangements of traditional carols, African-American spirituals and popular Christmas songs. This event is FREE and open to the public. Get details.
