Myelita Melton

Myelita MeltonMyelita Melton leads a busy life outside WDAV and is what you might call an expert in communication. She's made a career out of communicating well with people through different mediums in different languages. Besides her announcing work at WDAV, Myelita travels the country teaching people how to speak Spanish.

Holding a BA in French and Spanish with a MA in French and Curriculum Design from Appalachian State University, Myelita spent 10 years as a foreign language instructor before receiving a Rockefeller Scholarship to produce a documentary film in 1989. The documentary experience landed her in the world of TV where she worked the next 10 years as a producer. Her production skills brought her to Charlotte to work with NBC's Spanish News Division "Canal de Noticias." When her show was cancelled in 1997, Myelita started SpeakEasy Communications, a company which provides industry-specific SpeakEasy Spanish™ seminars to associations, Fortune 500 companies and universities across the country. In addition to writing and training, Myelita is also called upon to deliver keynote addresses on cultural diversity and multicultural management topics. And she publishes over 14 "Survival Spanish" books and five CD's to help people learn how to become more effective communicators in an increasingly diverse society. All of Myelita's titles are distributed by Barnes & Noble in addition numerous other outlets.

When Myelita gets a break from her busy schedule, she enjoys listening to classical guitar music, her favorite piece being Concierto de Aranjuez by Rodrigo.
