Rachel Jeffreys

Sundays 2 - 5 p.m.

Rachel JeffreysRachel Jeffreys brings a rich background in the arts to her Announcer/Producer position at WDAV.  She has experience as an actor, singer, dancer, and of course, public radio professional.  She spent a number of years in Off-Broadway productions in New York and in Washington, D.C.  And her public radio experience includes stints in Tampa, Savannah, and Ames, Iowa before coming to WDAV.

In her public radio career she has planned and announced daily music shows, read novels and short stories, and produced programs and features.  Some of her arts and public affairs documentaries have aired nationwide and received national awards.  She and her husband, Christian Hamilton, have directed university and community theater and have written and produced radio dramas.  Their latest such enterprise, "Fidelia, or The Mechanician," includes Beethoven's music and words and aired on "NPR Playhouse" in the fall of 2001.

Rachel's favorite music includes Ravel's Piano Concerto in G, Beethoven's late quartets, Enesco's Orchestral Suite No. 1, and piano music by Poulenc.  One of her favorite hobbies is photography.  And at some time in the near future, she wants to get back into acting, singing, and dancing.

She is a Maryland native and holds a BS in French from Georgetown University.
