Thanks for making WDAV your classical station of choice this past year and we hope you’ll stay tuned to 89.9 as we bring you more music in 2006. We’re getting off to a great start with two new weekend programs launching on Sunday and a live concert in uptown Charlotte on Friday. Check out details below. This Friday! The Main Street Sessions Benefit Concert

Adam Whiting  - Main StreetJoin WDAV and some of the best area musicians in concert at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Charlotte on Friday January 6th at 7:00 pm. The Main Street Sessions Concert is a benefit to help raise awareness and support for regional music and WDAV's Carolina Live series. Main Street Series Begins Second Season on Sunday

Shirley GilpinA new season of The Main Street Sessions kicks off on Sunday, January 8th at 3:00 pm with a solo, a duo and a trio. The new eight week series will feature more great performances by regional artists recorded live at WDAV. Featured this Sunday:

• Bogota-born classical guitarist and composer, Aris Quiroga
• Flute and harp duo Shirley Gilpin and Betsey Sesler
• A trio of Charlotte Symphony musicians; cellist Alan Black, flutist Amy Orsinger Whitehead and violinist Jane Hart Brendel

Reel Music Debuts This Sunday

Reel MusicClassic music meets classic films in WDAV’s new four week series Reel Music: Celebrating the Classic Movie Score. Host Ted Weiner is joined by Davidson music professor Neil Lerner, a specialist on film music, and together they explore the role and influence of music in film from the landmark scores of the silent era to present day. Hollywood’s most famous composers will be featured as well as classical music giants who took their turn at composing for the screen. Turn down the house lights and tune in Sundays at 4:00 pm – January 8th through January 29th. Visit the Reel Music page for more details.
