Happy Birthday Johann!
One
of our favorite composers is having a birthday tomorrow
and WDAV is planning a musical celebration in his honor.
It's an all-day Bach Birthday Bash, 6 am till 11;00
pm! You'll hear significant selections by Bach throughout
the day, including his influential works for keyboard
and other solo instruments, sacred choral music, as
well as instrumental chamber works and concertos. There'll
also be the occasional work by later composers inspired
by Bach. For more information, check out our Bach
Birthday Bash page.
Spring -- Time for Another Kind of Celebration
Recent
bursts of warm weather here in North Carolina have coaxed
buds and blossoms into an early appearance and the daffodils
are in full bloom at WDAV. Spring's the time for new
growth - a convenient metaphor for reminding everyone
that our Celebration 2007 membership campaign launches
this week. Its a "hit and quit"
effort this time out -- as soon as the $175,000 goal
is met, the drive will end; so we hope you'll participate
and do so early. Check out all our special thank
you gifts (including our new MemberCard
benefit offering great dining discounts all around the
area) and make your contribution at our Secure
Online Form.
Get Started -- Get Bach
Speaking
of early... how about making your contribution tomorrow
as we kick off our efforts with an special "early
bird" online promotion. Contribute online and you'll
be automatically registered to win the Complete
Bach Boxed Set: 155 CDs featuring every selection
ever written by the Baroque master. Get ready to Bach
around the clock with this indispensable collection
featuring his suites for solo instruments, his concertos,
his chamber music, and all of his cantatas and masses.
We'll
only be holding the contest for one day -- Wednesday,
March 21st. Your contributions to WDAV pay for all the
music you hear whether you listen at 89.9fm or online
at wdav.org. We appreciate
and need your support at any level that's comfortable
for you. So make that online contribution tomorrow at
Secure
Online Form. And thanks!
What do you Think?
WDAV's
Program Director Frank Dominguez raises some interesting
points about the value of special programming features
at Classical
Musings, the WDAV Blog. Do you value this kind of
niche feature? Are you looking for more or less variety
in the music WDAV schedules? How should a station balance
the varied tastes and demands of the audience in its
programming? Read more at the WDAV
Blog and, if you're so inclined, weigh in with your
thoughts and responses. We'd love to hear what you think.
