This
Memorial Day Weekend on WDAV
Two
special programs will be aired in commemoration of the
holiday weekend. Beginning Sunday night at 9:30 p.m.,
tune in for a Memorial Day concert special featuring
the Mormon Tabernacle Choir entitled Reverent
Tribute. You'll hear performances works like
“Goin’ Home” and “America
the Beautiful,” plus a touching message to
remember our fallen troops.
Then
Memorial Day evening at 9 pm, WDAV welcomes host Martin
Goldsmith and the Choral Arts Society of Washington
D.C. in Celebrating the Choral Arts: A Memorial
Day Special. The program includes Phillips
Glass' Symphony No. 5 "Requiem" performed
at Washington's famed Kennedy Center for the Performing
Arts.
Summer
Concerts - June 2nd at Cornelius
The
Charlotte Symphony Orchestra return to Bailey Road Park
in Cornelius on June 2nd for the annual Pops in the
Park concert hosted by the Town of Cornelius. The celebration
begins at 7:00 pm and concludes with a fireworks display
following the symphony's performance. Mike McKay will
be on hand to serve as MC, and be sure and visit the
WDAV tent to meet staff and sign up for some great door

Coming
up on Carolina Live
Carolina
Live, WDAV's regional music program, offers some of
the best "homegrown" classical music available.
This weekend, May 27th, we'll feature a concert from
one of Charlotte's most celebrated chamber music organizations
- Chamber Music at St. Peters. The celebrated cellist
Lynn Harrell is featured in a phenomenal performance
of the Schubert String Quintet in C. Then June 3rd,
the program hosts a choral sampler with performances
from the Renaissance, as well as groups from Hickory
and High Point. Tune in Sundays at 3:00 pm. See the

For
17 days and nights each spring, the Spoleto Festival
USA fills the historic theaters, churches and public
spaces of Charleston, SC. From acclaimed operatic productions
to the ever-popular chamber music series, from ballet
classics to a tribute to the festival’s late founder
Giancarlo Menotti, this year’s Spoleto Festival
USA promises to be memorable. WDAV’s Jennifer
Foster has a preview Thursday at 9:30 a.m. and Saturday
