Ben
Roe Is WDAV’s new Manager
WDAV
is under new management. On July 1, Benjamin K. Roe
joined the staff as general manager. Ben is a Grammy
and Peabody Award-winning producer and one of the nation’s
leading strategists for music and public media and comes
to WDAV with more than 25 years of leadership in these
areas, primarily at National Public Radio in Washington,
DC. A 20-year member of the NPR staff, he served most
recently as NPR’s director of music and music
initiatives, a job which allowed him to develop the
blueprint for NPRMusic.org, an online music portal for
NPR and member public radio stations across the U.S.
Under Ben’s leadership, you can expect WDAV to
explore fresh and exciting ways to share great classical
music with the WDAV community of listeners. Read

Listen
to WDAV on iTunes
iTunes is the world’s biggest online music site,
and now you can find WDAV there, three times! All three
of WDAV’s Internet streams are featured in the
iTunes radio section. (24kbps mono, 64kbps stereo, and
high end 128 kbps stereo for broadband users.) They’re
easy to find. Just look in the Classical category and
choose the WDAV stream you want. All you have to do
is click on it to play! For more information about all
of WDAV's Internet streams, visit our Listen
Online page.
Volunteers Needed
Volunteering
during the Fall Membership Campaign is a great way to
support WDAV’s classical music service and get
to know other classical music lovers. We’re looking
for folks who can come in and spend a couple of hours
answering the phones and taking listeners’ contributions.
The Campaign runs Thursday, October 2 through Thursday,
October 9, and volunteer slots are available mornings,
afternoons, and evenings. We’re looking for individual
volunteers as well as groups from schools, businesses,
and other organizations. If you’d like to sign
up, please call Kim Cline at 704-894-2977, or email
her at kicline@wdav.org.
Photo
of the Day: What Inspires You?
You’ve
probably noticed fabulous photos adorning the WDAV homepage
for the past month or so. We have a new feature, Photo
of the Day, which displays images submitted by members
of the WDAV community. Many of the submissions have
been truly spectacular, and it’s been great fun
choosing a new one to showcase each day. We’d
love to see your photos. All you have to do is sign
up for a free WDAV Photographer account and begin uploading
images. You never know, one of them might just end up
on our homepage as the Photo
of the Day.
