BBC
Proms
It’s
wild. It’s raucous. It’s Classical Music?
It is when it’s the Last
Night of the Proms – and it's coming to WDAV
LIVE from London’s Royal Albert
Hall on Saturday, September 9th at 2:30 pm. The Proms
is one of the most venerated music festivals in the
world – and WDAV will also be airing highlights
from this summer’s concerts each weeknight at
9:00 pm from September 4th through September 8th. Find
out more at the BBC
Proms Page.
WDAV
on the Internet – Getting All Blogged Down!
When
you tune in to WDAV we know you’re there for the
music – but often there’s so much more we’d
like to say about the music we play on the air. The
beauty of the Internet is now we can do both. We've
started a WDAV blog
called Classical
Musings, a place to share interesting thoughts and
facts that are just too long-winded for on-air. Midday
host Jennifer Foster is helping to get the blog rolling
– this isn’t a one-sided conversation. You
can add your own comments to Jennifer's. So what are
you waiting for? Click
here to go to the Classical
Musings Blog and get in on the conversation.
World
Choral Spectacular
In
2005, 24 phenomenal choirs gathered in Kyoto Japan for
8 days of truly amazing performances, the variety and
diversity of which will surprise and delight listeners.
WDAV will air four one-hour “best of the best”
specials featuring these breathtaking concerts. World
Choral Spectacular will air Sundays at 7:00 p.m,
during the month of September. Click
here to get the details.
Charlotte
Symphony Season Preview
Join
host Jennifer Foster on Wednesday, September 13th at
10:00 am for a special 2 hour preview of the Charlotte
Symphony’s 2006-2007 season. This is the CSO’s
75th anniversary season and, to commemorate that achievement,
six of the orchestra’s past music directors will
share the concert stage for a special Return of
the Maestro’s event in November. WDAV previews
the music, the people and the events that promise to
make this a special season.
Looking
for a Few Good Folks
WDAV's
Membership Campaign is coming up September 22 through
29, and we're looking for a few more volunteers to come
in and answer phones. The need is greatest in the afternoons
and evenings. Volunteering during the campaigns is a
great way to meet other classical music fans and get
to know the WDAV staff. Plus, we'll feed you if you're
here around mealtimes. You can't beat that with a baton!
To sign up, call Kim Cline at 704-894-2977, or email
wdavvolunteering@davidson.edu.
