Carolina Actors Studio Theatre (CAST) presents the Regional Premiere of Tony Award Nominee 33 Variations. This poignant Holiday drama chronicles the story of Dr. Katherine Brandt, a musicologist suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease, as she works to solve music's greatest mystery - to discover the meaning behind why Beethoven was compelled to write thirty-three distinct variations on a simple theme by a relatively unknown music publisher. Brandt's obsession with the 33 Variations parallels that of Ludwig van Beethoven and might, for a moment, make time stand still. Drama, memory, music, and a good dose of humor combine in this extraordinary American play about passion, parenthood and the transformative power of beauty.
