An estimated one thousand Charlotte-area children will celebrate and demonstrate at the 4th Annual Carolina CDF Freedom Schools ® Jubilee And Day of Social Action .

Who: Inner-city, Freedom School “scholars” grades K-8; college student mentors; and parent chaperones from Charlotte, Davidson, Brevard, and Bennettsville

What: A high-energy pep-rally celebration (called Harambee*) that features cheers, chants and singing. JCSU President Dr. Ron Carter will speak about the importance of social action, education and literacy.

When: Friday July 10, Noon – 2:30pm

Photo Opportunity: At 2:00pm, Freedom School participants will gather on the JCSU track/field for an advocacy demonstration on behalf of the nearly nine million uninsured American children and pregnant women.
